Hello!
Welcome to the East Bay SoccerFours session! We are running BOTH coed games and women-only games. This event is for the women-only game. If we don't get at least 8 women to the session who want to play women-only, the session will be merged into the co-ed group.
Sign up here to reserve your spot for the session. We cap participation at 20 women so it doesn't get too crowded. The sessions are $5 per person, but all first-timers are free ("try before you buy"). The field is grass and the location is convenient -- it's right off of San Pablo between Oakland and Berkeley in Emeryville -- right on a frequent public transit line!
Here are some house rules for sessions:
- If you're over 10 minutes late (and you've signed up here online), your spot will be opened up for drop-ins. If you show up late, but we still have space then no worries -- hop right in! If we're full however, and you've paid online already, that fee is forfeited (e.g. no refund). Unfortunately, we can't hold spots so if you know you're going to be late, email at least one hour ahead of the scheduled start time and we can give a credit towards a future session.
- No shooting from your own half. Though we don't keep score, the point of SoccerFours is to work on fitness, teamwork, and skills. Shooting at a small goal could be considered some skill building, but it's a big damper on the game for the other 7 people, so let's make sure we're in the attacking half before we let fly.
- No slide tackling. It's one thing to mess up on a step-over move and fall down, but it's another to either slide tackle someone who doesn't know how to get out of the way/ride the tackle or work on trying to improve one's slide tackling (e.g. timing is slightly off and an injury results to either you or the opponent).
- If you find yourself playing against a team that's either not very good or just doesn't play well together, resulting in your team banging goals in, try to work on something else besides scoring goals for the rest of that game. Maybe a 2-touch passing game, stringing 5 passes together before attacking their goal, and/or making sure every player gets a touch before shooting. This is more of a suggestion than a rule, but fun can quickly evaporate from a game in such a situation, so let's do what we can to keep things fun.
- Have fun! :)
See you out there! |
